Viktar Antonavich Voitsik
3 September 1947, Hrodna — … Contemporary Belarusian composer, Honoured Artist of Belarus, laureate of the prize of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (1995).
1972
Graduated from the Belarusian State Conservatory in the composition class of A. Bahatyroŭ.
1974
Member of the Union of Composers.
At the Belarusian Union of Composers he held the posts of executive secretary, deputy chairman, chairman of the Belarusian branch of the USSR Music Fund, and headed the department for the promotion of Belarusian music.
1975
Completed his post-graduate residency at the P. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in the class of A. Leman.
1980
Has been teaching at the Belarusian Academy of Music.
1981–1988
Head of the music department of the State Russian Drama Theatre of Belarus.
1995
Member of the “Belarusian Union of Musical Figures”.
1997
Awarded the academic title of Docent.
2014
Awarded the academic title of Professor.
He currently chairs the Auditing Commission of the Belarusian Union of Composers.
He teaches:
Composition, Polyphony, Analysis of Musical Forms, Instrumentation, Score Reading and Analysis, Arrangement.
Among his published works:
“Some Psychological Aspects of the Composer’s Work with Folk Song” (Minsk, 2008);
“The Treatment of Folk Themes and Composition” (Minsk, 2011).
He works in a wide range of genres. His music combines a national character with modern compositional technique.
His output is marked by great variety of themes and images. A central place is held by subjects connected with the history and culture of Belarus.
The composer devotes considerable attention to the creation of pedagogical repertoire. He is the author of compulsory competition pieces for folk instruments.
